Kyle Busch’s streak of never finishing in the top five at Kansas Speedway will continue as a savage crash ended his race Sunday.

Busch escaped harm in the crash, but he will need to wait for another day to end his Kansas Speedway struggles.
Trying to climb his way up the field after an earlier spin, Busch looped his car on lap 102 of the STP 400. His No. 18 Toyota hit the outside wall before spinning down the track and into the path of Joey Logano.
The contact was so jarring Logano’s front tires lifted off the ground. Luckily, both drivers escaped injury. Just moments before his crash, Busch had radioed his crew and said he was on the verge of wrecking.
Busch came into Sunday’s race having won the week before at Texas Motor Speedway, his fifth consecutive finish in the top five. Still, Kansas has always been a house of horrors for him, as he has never finished better than seventh with just two top 10 finishes in 11 starts on the 1.5-mile oval.
Busch’s Kansas troubles began Friday when, moments into practice, he scraped the wall necessitating a move to his backup car. And after having started Sunday’s race in the fifth position, he spun harmlessly just six laps in.
When asked by his crew what happened after the second accident, Busch’s response said it all: “It’s Kansas, right?”
