As expected, Los Angeles Lakers point guard Steve Nash will not play in Game 3 of the team's first-round series against the San Antonio Spurs Friday, the team confirmed. Darius Morris and Andrew Goudelock will make up the Lakers' starting backcourt.

The Los Angeles Lakers’ point guard will not play in a pivotal Game 3 against the Spurs after aggravating his nagging injuries in Game 2.

Nash missed the final eight games of the regular season with hip, hamstring and other injuries before returning for the first two games of this first-round series. But the point guard received an epidural injection Thursday -- his third this month -- and was deemed doubtful to play in Game 3. His status was somewhat upgraded on Friday, but any optimism that he would be able to suit up has been dashed.
The absence of Nash makes the Lakers' backcourt especially thin. Steve Blake is out indefinitely after injuring his hamstring in Game 2, and Jodie Meeks will also not play after injuring his ankle in the same game. Chris Duhon is the only active Lakers guard that could play in reserve of Goudelock or Morris.
