Four teams suffered upsets on Sunday. With its second straight loss, LSU dropped a weekend series to South Carolina. What else happened on the diamond?

After losing two out of three games to South Carolina, No. 2 LSU dropped its first series of the 2013 season. The No. 11 Gamecocks blanked the Tigers Sunday afternoon with a 4-0 win to improve to 32-12 overall and 12-8 in SEC action.

Freshman Jack Wynkoop looked dominant while picking up his sixth win of the year. He threw seven scoreless innings, allowing just five hits on 71 pitches. Tyler Webb came in late to pick up his 14th save. He needed just 10 pitches to retire the four batters he faced. Junior Kurt McCune was roughed up early on, giving up three runs on six hits in 2.2 innings of work for the Tigers.

With inclement weather rolling across the South, two games suffered rainouts. The North Carolina vs. North Carolina State and Arkansas vs. Georgia matchups were both cancelled and will not be rescheduled.

No. 4 Vanderbilt defeated No. 10 Mississippi State, 8-3. Conrad Gregor went 3-for-3 with three RBI for the Commodores. Jacob Lindgren picked up his second loss of the season after failing to make it out of the first inning.

No. 8 UCLA, No. 14 Oklahoma and No. 23 Cal Poly rounded out the upsets from Sunday’s early games.
