eBay Item of the Day: Astros go schizo

There used to be this network television show that was about sports. I don’t remember which network it was on or what it was called, but during the opening they’d show a race car driver making out with two cheerleaders and then cut to a marathon runner getting run over by a steam roller and the announcer would say, “The spoils of winning and the retreat of defeat.”

And that’s been the Astros’ American League experience so far, hasn’t it? Sunday night they were that race car driver and last night they were that marathoner. They better get used to this because that’s the way it always is over there in that A.L. Senses are more acutely attuned. Emotions are stronger. The highs are higher and the lows are lower. It’s like their previous reality times five; all too beautiful or nightmarishly horrid. I hope they can survive.
