CBI 2013: George Mason tries to force a deciding Game 3 against Santa Clara

After winning the opener of the best-of-three College Basketball Invitational tournament final, the Santa Clara Broncos will look to close out George Mason on Wednesday night. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. ET.

USA TODAY Sports

After winning the first game in the best-of-three College Basketball Invitational championship series on Monday, the Santa Clara Broncos try and claim the tournament title with a second victory over George Mason on Wednesday night. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. ET and will be played on George Mason's campus.

Santa Clara won the opening game of this series 81-73 on Monday thanks to a strong effort from superstar Kevin Foster. The senior guard poured in 28 points, highlighted by 5-of-11 shooting from behind the arc. Junior guard Even Roquemore added 16 points for the Broncos, who improved to 25-11 on the season with the win.

Meanwhile, for George Mason (21-15 overall) to force a third game in this series, they'll need a better performance from guard Sherrod Wright than they got in Monday night's loss. Wright averaged over 16 points per game as the Patriots' leading scorer this season, but was held to just three in Game 1 of the series.

If George Mason were to win on Wednesday, it would force a deciding Game 3, which would be played at Santa Clara on Friday night.
