The 2013 Valero Texas Open begins Thursday in San Antonio and for the second straight week, Rory McIlroy is the early betting favorite.

McIlroy is listed as a 9/1 favorite heading into Thursday’s first round, according to Bovada. That is just slightly better than Charl Schwartzel who is listed as a 10/1 favorite. McIlroy was the pre-tournament betting favorite for last week’s Shell Houston Open, but went on to finish in a tie for 45th. McIlroy is also listed as a 14/1 favorite to lead after the first round.

Following McIlroy and Schwartzel, Matt Kuchar has the next best odds at 12/1. After the top three, there is a drop off to Fredrik Jacobson who is a 22/1 favorite. Ian Poulter rounds out the top five with 25/1 odds. D.A. Points is coming off a win at the Shell Houston Open, but that victory didn’t do much to boost his odds this week as he’s currently a 66/1 favorite. Ben Curtis, the defending Valero Texas Open champion, is an 80/1 favorite to repeat.

While not the biggest name in the field, Cameron Triangale could be an interesting pick. He finished in the top 27 in six of his last eight events. He played well in this event last season, finishing in a tie for eighth. Triangale is currently a 28/1 favorite to win and plus-225 to finish in the top 10.
