NIT 2013 schedule and bracket: Iowa, Baylor meet for championship on Thursday

After dominating early-round play in the NIT bracket, the Iowa Hawkeyes take on the Baylor Bears in Thursday’s title game. The Bears will counter Iowa’s balanced offense with the two-headed monster of Pierre Jackson and Cory Jefferson.

After three weeks of exciting hoops action, the NIT Championship will be decided on Thursday night when the Baylor Bears take on the Iowa Hawkeyes at Madison Square Garden. Tip-time is set for 9 p.m. and can be seen on ESPN.

Iowa enters Thursday's final with four straight double-figure NIT wins, including Tuesday night's 71-60 semifinal victory over Maryland. In that matchup, Roy Devyn Marble poured in 21 points and was one of five Hawkeyes to score at least seven points on the evening.

But while Iowa has blown-out everyone they’ve played so far in the tournament, Baylor has taken a much different approach to reach Thursday night’s final. Two of the Bears’ last three tournament wins have come by six points or less, including Tuesday’s 76-70 semifinal victory over BYU.

In that game, four Baylor players scored in double-figures, led by Pierre Jackson's 24 points. Forward Cory Jefferson added 21 points, his sixth straight game with at least 10 points.
