Wrestling fans get to deal with more of this ‘The Shield is the best team ever’ storyline. They took apart the team of Big Show, Sheamus and Randy Orton at WrestleMania thanks to their teamwork and their opponents’ lack thereof.

Chemistry is important, even in sports with pre-determined outcomes. The teamwork of The Shield triumphed over the disorganization of the Big Show, Randy Orton and Sheamus in the first match of the WrestleMania 29 PPV.

If you’re not up on wrestling at the moment, the dudes from The Shield have a schtick based on both chemistry and generally being disruptive jerks. The three superstars they were put up against ... have no discernable connection. They’re just cool wrestlers who everyone wanted to beat The Shield.
This match started as a three-way tag team that was supposed to have rules that were enforced by a referee, but that lasted all of 10 minutes, until Sheamus was pulled down off the top rope by a member of the shield that wasn’t the legal man. Then the rules went out the window and all six participants got involved in the match, inside and outside of the ring, which is what everyone wanted in the first place. Why book six wrestlers for a match if they can’t all beat the crap out of each other? Who came here for rules?
The twist game when the chemistry issues between Big Show, Randy Orton and Sheamus popped back up. With Sheamus reaching to tag in Big Show, Orton tagged himself in to the dismay of Big Show. He dropped an RKO on Rollins, but Reigns hit him with a spear. Ambrose, the legal man, capitalized and pinned Orton for the win.
Can anyone explain what The Shield’s utility vests have to do with their characters, or how they’re useful in wrestling? They don’t appear to be associated with the police, despite their name, and they don’t carry weapons. Are they some sort of highly organized militia? Are they headed to patrol the Mexican-American border with Jack Swagger and Zeb Colter after the show? No one seems to know.
After the match, an enraged Big Show beat the hell out of his teammates. Good sportsmanship!
