Mark Henry was able to defeat Ryback at WrestleMania 29 thanks to a botched finisher, but the loser stole the show at the end.
WrestleMania 29 results: Ryback botches finisher and loses to Mark Henry, but gets instant revenge
The two strongest men in the WWE did what everyone expected of them, performing ridiculous feats of strength and beating the living tar out of each other. Do you really care who won?
This feud was creatively ignited with a ‘no-contact rule’ that would presumably cause the fight not to happen if either man touched each other in the build-up to the fight. Mark Henry found a way around this by pushing a bench press bar into Ryback’s throat, which caused Ryback to retaliate by throwing a smaller person into him.
Ryback, in a needless show of arrogance, did himself in at the end of the match. He picked up Henry over his head and looked ready to slam him down to the mat, but Ryback botched the move and all 400 pounds of Henry fell on top of him. Henry then rolled over and secured the pin.
As medical personnel attended to Ryback, Henry scared them off and implored them to, in his own words, ‘let him suffer’. Ryback then magically sprang to life, powerbombed Henry, then picked him up and delivered his signature shell shocker move.
This is horrible and awful. Henry’s angry tough guy routine is infinitely less entertaining than his Sexual Chocolate routine. That it’s gone is bad, and WWE should feel bad.
