Triple-H will not have to retire, thanks to his defeat of Brock Lesnar. In a match that was right in his wheelhouse -- a no DQ match -- he used various dangerous instruments to incapacitate the former UFC champion.
WrestleMania 29 results: Triple-H beats Brock Lesnar in a bit of a letdown match
That wasn’t even half as good as CM Punk vs. The Undertaker.

Lesnar’s made a habit of breaking things since returning to WWE. He’s broken Triple-H’s arm twice and forced Vince McMahon into a hip replacement surgery, creating this feud. Then Paul Heyman insulted Triple-H’s wife and things got serious. Lesnar and Triple-H signed on for a match that would end the WWE COO’s wrestling career if he lost, and that’s how we got here.
Things moved outside the ring quickly, and Lesnar made use of the Spanish announcers’ table by tossing Triple-H through it. He can thank Undertaker and CM Punk for softening it up earlier, but not quite breaking it, leaving it there for him to use. The poor Spanish announcers probably thought that they would have a table to use during the main event after Punk and Taker botched their big move, but Lesnar improvised beautifully and destroyed what was supposed to be destroyed 20 minutes prior.
Shawn Michaels, who had his arm broken by Lesnar earlier in the year, decided to accompany Triple-H to the ring. It wasn’t exactly to counteract Paul Heyman, as HBK looked like interfering early and ran into the ring after Lesnar pushed him off the apron. He tried to deliver Sweet Chin Music to Lesnar, which backfired horribly, and he got side-slammed.
After a series of chair shots, stair shots and sledgehammer shots from both parties, Triple-H eventually locked Lesnar into a kimura. Heyman entered the ring and tried to intervene, but Michaels returned and stopped him from issuing a chair shot to Triple-H by striking Heyman with Sweet Chin Music.
The battle between kimuras and counters continued, generally going nowhere. Triple-H eventually downed Lesnar with a DDT into some steel steps, smacked him in the head with a sledgehammer, then finished him off with a pedigree into the steps before pinning for a three-count.
After the epic battle that was Taker-Punk, this was a letdown. Also, Lesnar was wearing MMA gloves for this match. Why?
