Stage 8 of the 2013 Giro d’Italia takes place on Saturday, a 54.8-kilometer individual time trial from from Gabicce Mare to Saltara. Movistar’s Benat Intxausti Elorriaga is currently in possession of the Maglia Rosa, but with 2012 Giro champion and strong time-trialist Ryder Hesjedal only eight seconds back, ending the day in pink might be out of reach. Plenty of other GC contenders will make their first move on Saturday, but none will find it easy. The final kilometer of the course includes a section of pavé and an uphill finish that hits a 13 percent grade.
