NBC Sports Network television analyst Mike Keenan has agreed to become the new head coach of the Kontinental Hockey League’s Metallurg Magnitogorsk.

Mike Keenan will become the new head coach of Metallurg Magnitogorsk of the Kontinental Hockey League.

Keenan confirmed the news via his twitter account, as well as through this interesting video released on the team’s official YouTube channel.
Keenan’s contract is reportedly for two years.
The former NHL head coach has not coached professionally since leading the Calgary Flames during the 2008-09 regular season. Having coached in 1,386 career NHL regular season games, Keenan accumulated 672 wins, 531 losses, 147 ties and 36 overtime losses.
During that span, he coached four teams to the Stanley Cup Finals while posting a playoff record of 96-77 in 173 career playoff games. Keenan lost in the finals two times as the coach of the Philadelphia Flyers and once as the bench boss of the Chicago Blackhawks.
In 1994, he led the New York Rangers to their first championship in 54 years.
Keenan also coached the Boston Bruins, Florida Panthers, St. Louis Blues and Vancouver Canucks.
