Preakness 2013 weekend weather forecast

A few scattered to isolated showers and storms could make for some wet conditions at the 2013 Preakness Stakes. Meteorologist Brian Neudorff gives us a first look at the weekend weather forecast.

A stalled front will meander over the Mid-Atlantic for the end of the week and into the weekend. This will be the focusing mechanism for scattered to isolated showers and storms both Friday and Saturday afternoons across Maryland, including Baltimore where Pimlico Race Course is located.

The weather forecast for the Preakness doesn’t look as wet as it did for the Kentucky Derby where it rained for most of the day up until post time of the derby. The thing about scattered showers and storms is it all depends on when and where they will form. I use the analogy of dumping a bag of marbles onto the floor and trying to predict where each marble will eventually stop, it’s nearly impossible.

FRIDAY - BLACK-EYE SUSAN WEATHER FORECAST:
Mix of sunshine and clouds, there is a small chance of scattered to isolated showers and storms during the afternoon but there should be more dry time than wet. Winds will be light and variable for the afternoon with an afternoon high temperatures of 82.

SATURDAY - PREAKNESS STAKES WEATHER FORECAST:
Similar to Friday with partly sunny skies, cooler as the front will be farther south of Pimlico Race Course. Saturday should be the driest of the two days, but there is still a small chance of isolated showers and storms in the afternoon. I don’t expect weather to be too much of a problem. Afternoon temperatures will be in the low 70s and winds will be between 3 and 8 mph out of the southeast.
