Toronto Maple Leafs forward Tyler Bozak stated he sustained a torn triceps in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinal against the Boston Bruins.

Tyler Bozak was forced to miss the final two games of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinal. On Thursday, he updated his status.

Bozak said the injury occurred on his final face-off attempt in Game 5 and resulted in a 70 percent tear of the muscle. The Maple Leafs top centerman was unable to play in Game 6 or 7 due to the injury. At the time, the team was unwilling to divulge the specifics of the injury. Darren Dreger of TSN reported that Bozak was not an option for the two final games of the series despite participating in warmups for Game 6, which Bozak admitted was an attempt at playing mind games with the Bruins by head coach Randy Carlyle.
In addition, Bozak also sustained an oblique injury at the end of the regular season.
As is commonplace in the NHL, Toronto did not specify what the issue was. Entering the opening round of the playoffs, it was questioned whether Bozak would be available for the start of the series and whether he would be able to take face-offs.
Over his five appearances against Boston, Bozak attempted 148 draws (most on the team) and recorded a 42.6 percent success rate. That total was down from his regular season percentage of 52.6.
Bozak is expected to require four weeks of recovery time.
