Orb remains the heavy favorite to win the 2013 Preakness Stakes with the odds shifting as post time nears. After being a 10/11 favorite earlier in the day, Orb is back to even odds, according to Bovada.
Preakness 2013 odds: Orb even as race approaches
The odds continue to shift as post time for the 2013 Preakness Stakes approaches.
The Kentucky Derby winner remains the heavy favorite despite running from the less-than-desirable Gate 1. While Orb’s odds have remained steady, the horses behind him have seen their odds shift. Mylute has the next best odds, now at 5/1, with Departing just behind at 6/1. Goldencents remains at 8/1 odds.
The field is close, with seven of the nine horses currently going off at 12/1 or better. Oxbow at 15/1 and Titletown Five at 30/1 are the only two horses with worse than 12/1 odds. Titletown Five was a longshot coming into the day, but his odds have gotten worse as the race nears, dropping from 28/1.
If Orb is able to win the race as favored, he would become the 13th horse since 1978 to win the first two legs of the Triple Crown.
Here are the complete odds:
Orb - 1/1
Mylute - 5/1
Departing - 6/1
Goldencents - 8/1
Itsmyluckyday - 10/1
Governor Charlie - 12/1
