Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Mike Kostka has broken a bone in his right index finger and will not play against the Boston Bruins in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinal on Saturday night, according to head coach Randy Carlyle on Thursday afternoon.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are expected to make some roster changes before Saturday’s Game 2.

It remains unclear when Kostka sustained the injury. He played 22:22 during Game 1, which included 8:03 of ice time in the third period. In addition, Cody Franson has a bruised foot, and his status is uncertain for Saturday. Franson was seen walking out of practice with a visible limp.
Carlyle stated he is thinking about playing Jake Gardiner and Ryan O'Byrne in Game 2.
Gardiner last played against the New York Islanders on April 18, but he was scratched for the final four games of the regular season, as well as Wednesday night's contest with the Bruins.
O'Byrne was acquired by the Maple Leafs on April 3 via trade with the Colorado Avalanche. In exchange for the defenseman, Colorado received a fourth-round draft pick in 2014.
