Preakness 2013: Date, time, location and more
The second jewel of the Triple Crown will be ran on the third Saturday in May.

Not since Affirmed in 1978 has a horse been able to win each of the three races to win the elusive Triple Crown, but there have been several close calls, as 21 horses have managed to win the first two races, but couldn’t finish with a win in the final race, the Belmont Stakes.
Most recently, I’ll Have Another managed to win both the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness Stakes in 2012, but was scratched the day before the running of the Belmont Stakes. A similar event occurred in 2008 when Big Brown won each of the first two races, but was unable to finish the final race of the Triple Crown.
Coverage of the 2013 Preakness Stakes will be provided on NBC at 4:30 p.m. with the Preakness Prep & Post broadcast on NBC Sports Network earlier in the day.
