Red Wings vs. Ducks Game 3 recap: Penalties doom Detroit

Anaheim won thanks to a strong special-teams performance.

Ah, there's the Ducks we've come to know this season. Anaheim got huge performances out of their captain and goaltender in a 4-0 win in Detroit on Saturday, taking a 2-1 series lead in the process.

It was a sin-bin parade, as both teams racked up a combined 52 penalty minutes. And yet, they both were completely ineffective on the power play, going a combined 2-for-12. However, the special-teams goals for the Ducks were also their biggest.

Nick Bonino deflected a Corey Perry shot in the second on the man advantage to open the scoring. Ryan Getzlaf then took advantage of some sloppy power-play possession by Detroit to score this shorthanded goal:

Emerson Etem (who was all over this game) potted a goal of his own a few minutes later, and Matt Beleskey scored on the power play late to finish off a solid win for Anaheim.
