Carey Price questionable for Game 5; Brandon Prust, Ryan White out

The Montreal Canadiens’ issues in the Eastern Conference quarterfinals continue to mount. Injuries have become a problem for the team on the brink of elimination.

USA TODAY Sports

Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price is considering day-to-day due to a lower-body injury, the team announced Wednesday afternoon.

Price sustained the injury in the third period against the Ottawa Senators in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference quarterfinals on Tuesday night. The game required overtime, in which Price was unable to play. It remains to be seen if he will be available for Game 5 on Thursday night.

However, there is no question about the availability of forwards Brandon Prust and Ryan White, as both players have already been ruled out of the contest due to upper-body injuries.

This adds to the Canadiens injury issues, as captain Brian Gionta will have season-ending surgery to repair a torn bicep on Friday.

With the Canadiens trailing Ottawa, 3-1, in the series, the loss of these players certainly isn't ideal. While injured forward Lars Eller was able to skate briefly on Wednesday morning, it seems unlikely that he will be available for Game 5. However, the team has yet to officially update his status.

The Canadiens will attempt to stave off elimination when the series returns to Montreal on Thursday night.
