Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Mark Fraser had surgery to repair a fracture in his forehead, according to head coach Randy Carlyle on Thursday morning.

Mark Fraser underwent surgery to repair a fracture to his forehead on Wednesday night.

Fraser was hit with a Milan Lucic shot during Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals on Wednesday night. The Maple Leafs defender immediately fell to the ice and was bleeding from the head. He was able to skate off the ice under his own power and reportedly left Air Canada Centre without aide, as well.
Fraser was texting with teammates on Thursday morning and informed them he was already on the road to recovery. It remains unclear if he has been released from the hospital yet.
With Fraser seemingly out for an undefined period of time, Carlyle stated that defenseman John-Michael Liles would likely take Frazer's spot in the lineup.
Liles played in Game 1 of the series but has been a healthy scratch in subsequent games.
