If you watched much of the 2013 NCAA Baseball Tournament super regionals, a few of the names dotting the weekend’s lineup cards may have earned a double take. After all, it’s not often you hear “Now coming to the plate, Dusty Dishman.” There were a good deal of such peculiarly cool names spotting the rosters of the super regional teams, enough, as it turns out, to fill out a lineup card. Which is exactly what I did.
College World Series 2013: Looking back on the coolest names of the super regionals
There were some pretty fantastic names among the rosters of the super regional teams. We’ve put together a lineup of the very best.

Below is the starting lineup of the best names of the second round, listed in reverse order of awesome-ness.
9. Zane Yanzick, Oregon State, OF
This may be the first list this kid’s name has ever been at the top of. He must have had some looong waits in elementary school.
8. Kyle Funkhouser, Louisville, RHP
All you Curb Your Enthusiasm fans should appreciate that surname.
7. Raph Rhymes, LSU, OF
If baseball doesn’t work out for Raph, he’s got a future as an amateur mixtape rapper based on name alone. Maybe Vandy’s Tyler Beede can give him some tips.
6. Aaron Nola, LSU, RHP
You gotta appreciate a guy playing an hour and a half north of the Big Easy named Nola.
5. Coco Johnson, Louisville, OF
The winner of Best Sign of the Tournament goes to the girl holding an “I’m Cuckoo for Coco” poster last weekend in Nashville.
4. Skye Bolt, North Carolina, OF
For the record, Skye is Bryce Harper’s vote for number one on this list.
Skye Bolt! I hope he gets to the big leagues just so I can hear them announce his name! Legit! #UNC

3. Graham Saiko, South Carolina, INF
Yes, it’s pronounced pyscho.
2. Dusty Dishman, Oklahoma, INF
The Sooners’ radio broadcast team must make a lot of ‘he’s cleaning up at the plate’ puns.
1. Joey Pankake, South Carolina, INF
Did you know there’s a National Pancake Day? Did you know that on National Pancake Day 2012, Joey hit his first career home run to give South Carolina a 2-1 win? You can’t make this stuff up.
