2013 NASCAR at Michigan International Speedway, chance of rain over the weekend

Tricky forecast for the Irish Hills of Michigan and NASCAR at Michigan International Speedway. Weather is mostly dry but rain chances exist this weekend.

NASCAR is in the Irish Hills of Michigan at Michigan International Speedway. The forecast this weekend is mostly dry but there is a threat of rain and storms over the weekend.

Friday is dry with pleasant temperatures as high temperatures only reach the mid 70s. Winds are not a problem as they are out of the north between 5 and 10 mph.

Warm front will lift across southern Michigan late on Saturday into Saturday night. A complex of showers and storms is expected to cross the state Saturday night into Sunday morning. If you are camping at the track this weekend, Saturday night could be a rough night with some of those storms.

As for the activity on the track Saturday with the Nationwide race I think they can get the race in before the rain arrives. It may cut it close but going to stay optimistic for now.

For the Sprint Cup race on Sunday, it will come down to timing and area of these showers and storms. Could have rain and storms through the morning, but exiting and drying out by midday. Like the Nationwide race I think they get the Sprint Cup race in too. Will be monitoring as we go through the weekend.
