2013 NASCAR at Kentucky Speedway weather forecast

Weather is still a concern for Saturday night’s Sprint Cup race at Kentucky Speedway. Showers and storms are likely the question is when does it rain.

Threat of showers and storms remain in the forecast for NASCAR at Kentucky Speedway today and Saturday. Today’s forecast is mostly dry with just a small chance of an isolated storm or two, Saturday has a much better chance of seeing showers and storms, especially Saturday afternoon and evening. The question is will the rain impact either the Nationwide race today and the Sprint Cup race tomorrow night.

Weather forecast for today looks mostly dry and warm. Afternoon temperatures will reach the mid 80s. and there is a small chance of an isolated shower or two for the afternoon and into the evening. Although there is a chance of a storm, the forecast and the race should stay mostly dry. Temperatures for the Nationwide race will be near 80 to start and the mid to low 70s by the checkered flag.

Saturday’s forecast is not as dry and not as warm. Disturbance dropping south across the Ohio Valley will spark scattered cluster of showers and storms Saturday afternoon into Saturday evening. The above animation has the highest threat of showers over Kentucky Speedway between 4 p.m. EDT and 8 p.m. EDT. Showers could end earlier than 8 p.m. or the could start later than 4 p.m., either way radar will need to be monitored Saturday afternoon and evening and there could be possible delays. Due to some of the uncertainty I am going to give the odds of racing Saturday night somewhere between 40 to 60 percent. I am staying cautiously optimistic.
