The Texas A&M commit shows off his preparation and quick release, earning the Elite 11 Golden Gun award.

Afterwards, Allen discussed his Elite 11 experience with Clemson quarterback Tajh Boyd and fellow Aggie Johnny Manziel. Allen admits he spent “15, maybe 16 hours” learning the Elite 11 playbook beforehand, with a neighborhood friend helping. He does admit he needs to work on deep passing, but the few holes in Allen’s game are hard to find.
Allen is a consensus four-star prospect and is widely considered one of the top five pro-style quarterbacks in the Class of 2014. He committed to Texas A&M in June, choosing the Aggies over offers from Alabama, Notre Dame, Ohio State and nearly 20 other FBS programs. He has been extremely impressive throughout the summer circuit; SB Nation recruiting analyst Bud Elliott has called him the best quarterback at this year’s summer camps.
