Rain continues to hamper the East Coast super regionals, as the Virginia-Mississippi State game has been postponed until Monday. The game will resume at 4 p.m. ET with Virginia batting in the bottom of the seventh and Mississippi State leading 5-3.

Mississippi State won 11-6 on Saturday, and is nine outs away from advancing to the College World Series for the first time since 2007.

The Bulldogs used two RBI from Adam Frazier and a two-run homer from Wes Rae to help build an early 5-1 lead, but Virginia answered back with two runs in the top of the sixth to cut it to 5-3.

It was a rough outing for both starting pitchers, neither of whom made it past the fourth inning. Virginia’s Scott Silverstein, who had a 10-1 record coming in, is on the hook for the loss, having given up five runs on seven hits in just 3⅓ innings.

The delay could potentially be an advantage for Virginia, as it means they’ll no longer have to face Mississippi State reliever Chad Girodo, who fanned ten Cavaliers in just over four innings of work before rain forced the stoppage in play.
