Perth Glory have begun the process of luring Richard Garcia back to his hometown for the 2013/14 season. The 31-year-old Western Australia native is in Perth and has not reported to Melbourne Heart for pre-season training. Garcia signed a one-year contract with Heart just before last season but is currently out-of-contract.
A-League transfer rumor: Perth Glory in talks with Richard Garcia
Melbourne Heart’s top player is out-of-contract and considering an offer to return to his hometown and join the Glory.

Heart have repeatedly stated that they intend to bring back Garcia to Melbourne this season, a claim repeated by football operations manager John Didulica in today’s Herald Sun:
“He’s obviously from Perth originally...we recognize that we need to put together a package that will entice him to bring is whole family over here. The season is still three and a half months away, so I don’t think it’s a decision he wants to rush into and certainly we don’t want him to make a decision that he’s not entirely comfortable with, as well.”
Meanwhile, Garcia’s family never left Perth last season and he seems intent to stay with them for the time being. The Glory have formally requested permission to speak with Garcia, which the Heart have granted. Didulica’s thoughts notwithstanding, the former Hull City attacker could be more inclined to wind down his career in his hometown rather than across the country in Melbourne.
