Entry level contracts have started to roll in for many of the NHL’s first-round draft picks, and the Montreal Canadiens joined the club on Thursday.

The power forward was the 25th-overall pick in the 2013 NHL Draft.

The Canadiens signed forward Michael McCarron -- drafted 25th overall -- to a three-year, entry level contract lasting through 2015-16, the club announced on Thursday. This came after yesterday’s announcement that McCarron has chosen to play for the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League, rather than attend Western Michigan University. This means McCarron will likely attend training camp and be sent to London should he not make the team.
McCarron spent last season with the U.S. National Team Development Program in the United States Hockey League. In 55 games, he scored 14 goals and 34 points. Standing 6’5”, 237 pounds, he also adds some toughness to the club. He put up 180 penalty minutes last season.
A native of Grosse Pointe, Michigan, he represented Team USA at the IIHF U18 World Championships last April. McCarron will be attending USA Hockey’s National Junior Evaluation Camp in Lake Placid, N.Y. this August.
