Fans that have watched a NASCAR race recently have inevitably seen the Mobil 1 commercial featuring Sprint Cup driver Tony Stewart and his Formula One counterpart Jensen Button.
NASCAR Daytona 2013: Tony Stewart explains soda cookies commercial
Did Tony Stewart really perform the splits in a new commercial for Mobil 1? The NASCAR driver explained Friday at Daytona.

Stewart is seen dipping a cookie into a glass of soda while doing the splits in the commercial, uttering the phrase “Umm, soda cookies,” as Button looks on with bewilderment.
Spoiler alert: Stewart, whose disdain for exercising is well noted, did not actually perform the splits.
“Let’s make no mistakes about it, if I got down there I would still be down there,” Stewart said Friday at Daytona International Speedway. “They had me get down on the ground for the camera shot, but they had green screens. They had some male gymnast do it. I don’t know who it was. I didn’t want to be there when he did it.”
The “soda cookies” commercial is one of two featuring Stewart and Button. The second spot shows Stewart on an exercise bike as the two champions compare fitness levels.
When he initially read the script that called for him to get on a stationary bike and also do the splits, Stewart did a double-take. “I’m like, ‘Which Tony is doing this by the way?” he said. ‘Is there another Tony?’ But it was fun.”
He also experienced a first as he had never tried soda cookies before.
“I can’t say that I have ever just sat down and grabbed a Coke and grabbed Oreos,” Stewart said. “I’ve ate Oreos and then chased them with a Coke, but I can’t say that I have done a lot of dunking. It’s actually pretty good. It might start a new trend now.”
