David Gettis led the Panthers with three receptions for 56 yards on five targets in Friday night's preseason opener against the Bears. Armanti Edwards finished behind him with two catches for 38 yards, and Ted Ginn managed to haul in a single pass on seven targets.
David Gettis leads receiving corps, Panthers wideouts still with low fantasy value
The Panthers backup receivers didn’t do much to separate themselves in the preseason opener. We break down the fantasy implications.

Fantasy impact: Ever since tearing his ACL in 2011, Gettis hasn’t been the same player, a note that several writers have still pointed out during training camp this year. Don’t expect him to be much of a factor for the Panthers.
Edwards was deemed “training camp MVP” by head coach Ron Rivera. While he continues to look good in practice, fantasy owners should hold off on getting excited before they see game results.
While Ginn is first on the depth chart at kick and punt returner, he wasn’t back to return kicks at all in the opener. One of his seven targets was picked off as well. It wasn’t a good night for him.
