ESPN sets ‘Tip-Off Marathon’ slate

A women’s doubleheader will lead off nearly 30 hours of college hoops to start the season.

Bob Donnan-US PRESSWIRE

For the sixth season in a row, ESPN will allow you to watch live college basketball at 3 a.m. ET. The annual Tip-Off Marathon will signal the launch of the college hoops season yet again, airing nearly 30 hours of both men’s and women’s basketball starting Nov. 11.

Games will begin at 7 p.m. ET on the 11th on ESPN2 (Stanford-UConn in women’s action) and run until 7 p.m. on the 12th, when the networks take a 30-minute break for College Gameday. ESPN2 will air games through an 11 a.m. LSU-UMass tilt, while ESPN picks up the slack at 1 p.m. on the 12th with West Virginia-Virginia Tech.

Eight teams ranked in the pre-season men’s polls headline the coverage along with four preseason Top 10s on the women’s side. 17 conferences will be represented, with the A-10, Big 12 and West Coast Conference showing off three of their teams -- more than any other.

In primetime on the 12th to wrap it up, ESPN presents the Champions Classic. Live from United Center in Chicago, the doubleheader features preseason No. 1 Kentucky against No. 3 Michigan followed by No. 5 Kansas against No. 6 Duke. Meanwhile, ESPN2 will be showing a doubleheader at the same time.
