CBS Sports Network releases college football schedule

Notre Dame, Stanford and USC appear on the CBS Sports Network this season.

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

While ESPN and Fox have been first out of the gate to brag about their college football schedules, CBS Sports Network announced their slate today, and I’d bet it’s better than you think.

The network, for those who may have forgotten, has the rights to the Mountain West (except for Boise State home games, which belong to ESPN), Conference USA, the service academies (Army, Navy and via the Mountain West, Air Force) and some Division II football. Overall, it isn’t a bad schedule.

Highlights include: Notre Dame visiting Air Force in the school’s second-ever CBS Sports Network appearance (Oct. 26); Stanford (Sept. 14) and Pittsburgh (Oct. 26) visiting the Naval Academy; and a Mountain West showdown between Boise State and Colorado State (Nov. 2).

Andrew Catalon is the new lead play-by-play man for CBS Sports Network, as he handles much of the network’s Mountain West coverage with Aaron Taylor (color) and Lauren Gardner (reporter). Dave Ryan, Ben Holden, Brad Johansen and Brent Stover also call games for CBSSN, while their analyst stable is rounded out by Adam Archuleta, Tom Bradley, Randy Cross and Corey Chavous. John Feinstein provides essays on the network’s Army telecasts.
