A high school football player died late Friday evening after an injury sustained in a preseason scrimmage. The name of the player has not been released; however, he was an 11th-grader at Creekside High School in Fulton County, Ga.

“Our hearts and prayers go out to the family of this student,” Fulton County schools spokeswoman Samantha Evans told the Atlanta Journal Constitution on Saturday morning. “This is truly a horrific way to begin a school year.”
