Chicago’s Humboldt Park is hosting Riot Fest this weekend, with headliners including The Replacements, Blink-182, Pixies and Brand New. However, an estimated 43,000 (well, Pete Wentz’s estimates) came to see hometown heroes Fall Out Boy on Friday. They didn’t disappoint, not only littering a 75-minute set with hits from the past decade (yes, Fall Out Boy is more than 10 years old. We’re all so old) but bringing out one of Chicago’s current prized possessions: the Stanley Cup.

Other headlines considered: “A little less 16 wins, a little more touch me,” and “I’ve got all this ringing in my ears and two on my fingers.”

Danny Wirtz, son of Blackhawks chairman Rocky Wirtz, and grandson of the infamous Bill Wirtz, brought the Cup on stage with the band during their set on Friday. The younger Wirtz does a lot of work with his own television and video production company, and has won local Emmys for producing some of the team’s TV commercials, and hey, it’s his dad’s team. And hey, your dad’s team has the Stanley Cup for the year, why not bring it out with Chicago’s (arguably) biggest band?
Either way, Fall Out Boy probably deserves at least a few minutes with the Cup after their single “My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark (Light ‘Em Up)” spent months playing over NHL games. Light a mup, everyone.
