MLB announces postseason dates, TV schedule
The 109th World Series is currently slated to begin on Oct. 23.

October baseball is coming soon, as MLB reminded us on Tuesday, sending out their schedule for the month. If certain series go the distance, there could only be two days in all of October in which we don't see a playoff baseball game. The World Series begins on Oct. 23 and will go no later than Oct. 31. Keeping the World Series out of November is always a big deal for baseball traditionalists.
Other highlights of the schedule? MLB Network will jump into the postseason fray for the second consecutive year. The net will televise LDS games on Oct. 4 and Oct. 7. All the other Division Series games will be televised by TBS, which made a splash by announcing Keith Olbermann as their studio host for all playoff games. The Turner-owned network will also broadcast the National League Championship Series. Fox will air the American League Championship Series and, of course, the Fall Classic.
We’re entering the final year of this broadcast relationship, with ESPN gaining one of the Wild Card games and Fox Sports 1 taking two of the Division Series next season. For now, we live in a simpler time with only three networks, airing up to 41 games in but a month’s time.
