Serbia Vs. Belgium: Halftime Score 1-0 On A Tap In From Christian Benteke

It was the home side that had the majority of the chances, but at halftime, Belgium lead Serbia, 1-0.

Serbia started off the match looking as though they wanted another 6-1 victory. After barely two minutes, Zoran Tosic, charging up the left, cut inside and let his shot fly. Fortunately for Belgium, the ball hit the post. Also fortunately for Belgium, this set the tone for the majority of the home side’s chances.

Five minutes later, it was Dusan Tadic cutting inside, exposing the frailties in the Belgian defense, and forcing a save from Thibaut Courtois. Within the first ten minutes, Serbia had had three decent chances -- and would come to rue their mistakes.

After about fifteen minutes, Belgian started to force their way into the match. Christian Benteke forced a couple of dramatic saves from Zeljko Brkic, but the Aston Villa striker also showed off his exceptional skills at missing sitters. His blushes were spared, however, when Belgium took the lead in the 32nd minute. Kevin De Bruyne sent in a lovely cross and Benteke managed to get behind the Serbian defense, getting enough of a nudge on the ball to put his side ahead.

It’s been a lively match so far, and there’s no reason to think there can’t be more goals. Serbia have exposed the Belgian defense enough for the visitors to know they can’t sit on such a narrow lead, while Belgium have enough attacking talent to up their goal tally.
