In a game that was an excellent advertisement for UEFA switching to a multi-round qualifying model, like those in North America and Asia, an average England A- side laid a simple 5-0 beating on San Marino at Wembley.

England wasn’t tested in the slightest by San Marino on Friday.

The home side actually struggled to break through for much of the second half, and an injury to Theo Walcott didn't help things. He left in the 9th minute with a rib injury, and hopefully his substitution was just precautionary. England finally went up in the 35th minute on a penalty converted by Wayne Rooney, and it was all easy from then until the end of the match. Danny Welbeck added England's second goal before the end of the half, assisted by Aaron Lennon.
England didn't manage another goal until the 70th minute, but that goal was the start of an onslaught. Rooney's second goal led to a second for Welbeck in the 72nd minute. In the 77th, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain scored England's fifth and final goal, as well as his first goal in an England shirt.
