Belgium vs Scotland, 2014 UEFA World Cup qualifying: Preview and TV schedule

Scotland have a hard task in keeping their very faint hopes of qualification for Brazil 2014 alive when they take on Belgium in a tricky away encounter.

With many having already written off Scotland's hopes regardless of the result, only a win will realistically give Craig Levein's men any chance of seeing a playoff place. The odds will be stacked against them - Belgium have not lost any of their last ten home fixtures, and Scotland have just one victory in their last five games on the road. Scotland's last visit to Belgium saw them in the running for qualification for the 2002 World Cup, but a 2-0 defeat ended their hopes. A repeat this time would see the same outcome - but four games earlier.

Belgium will have Marouane Fellaini and Romelu Lukaku absent for the game, but that proved no hindrance to a hugely impressive 3-0 away victory over Serbia on Friday, and will mean that it will still be a formidable outfit that awaits Scotland at the King Badouin Stadium. Christian Benteke is likely to be given the nod up front again, but Kevin Mirallas will also be in contention having scored the final goal on Friday.

Levein is likely to continue with the Fletcher-Morrison partnership up front, which looked impressive and bright against Wales, but will need to find the correct balance elsewhere in the team to be solid enough to stand a chance of victory. Steven Naismith and Scott Brown are likely to be unavailable, and Cardiff City midfielder Don Cowie is likely to start in midfield.
