Sydney FC sign Milos Dimitrijevic for the rest of the season

The Sky Blues add the 29-year-old Serbian after a two week trial.

Serbian midfielder Milos Dimitrijevic has joined Sydney FC for the remainder of the 2013/14 season. The 29-year-old has been training with the Sky Blues and today joins the club on a full-time basis. A former Nantes, Chievo (as pictured) and Red Star Belgrade player, Dimitrijevic has been out of contract since April after spending the past decade in the top divisions of France, where he has dual citizenship, Italy and Serbia. The club announced the signing via press release on Friday.

Sydney’s new signing expressed delight in completing the move and in doing so at a club featuring other prominent Serbians:

”It’s an honor for me to come to Australia and play for the country’s biggest club. I have settled in very easily having Nikola (Petkovic) and Ranko (Despotovic) here and it’s helpful that a lot of the other players speak my language too.

“But everyone has helped me feel comfortable and hopefully this will help me play well from the start. I want to help the club do something special this season.”

Dimitrijevic joins the club immediately as his International Transfer Certificate is in hand. He will wear no. 21 and be available for selection in this weekend’s game against Central Coast Mariners. Dimitrijevic represents Sydney’s fifth visa player, joining Petkovic, Despotovic, Tiago and Alessandro del Piero.
