After a protracted process that included the possibility of a move to Vegalta Sendai, Central Coast Mariners or Sydney FC, Tom Rogic has returned to the A-League at Melbourne Victory. The 21-year-old attacker is on loan through the end of May from Scottish Premier League giants Celtic and will be counted on to help the Victory secure a good finals position and reach the group stage of the Asian Champions League.
Tom Rogic returns to the A-League
The Socceroo attacker is back in Australia for four months ahead of the World Cup.
Said Victory manager Kevin Muscat in a club press release:
"There has been a lot of interest in Tom's immediate future ahead of the World Cup and we are very pleased that his club, Celtic, has decided that Melbourne Victory is the best fit for him at this stage of his career. Tom is a talented young player and we look forward to seeing him grown even further during his time with us, both in our domestic competition as well as the Asian Champions League."
Provided his International Transfer Certificate comes through in time, Rogic is expected to be available for the Victory’s Australia Day game against Sydney FC on Sunday January 26.
