Perth Glory remain active in the January transfer window as they claimed Lithuanian international Darvydas Šernas on loan for the remainder of the season. The Glory will have the option to make the move permanent at the conclusion of 2013/14. Šernas, a 29-year-old forward, currently plays at Turkish Süper Lig side Gaziantepspor after previously playing in Lithuania, Russia and Poland. He has 35 caps with Lithuania and has scored five times, including three goals in Euro 2012 qualifying and one last March in 2014 World Cup qualifying.

Manager Kenny Lowe briefly described Sernas in a club press release:
”Darvydas Šernas is a proven goal scorer who can play anywhere up front. His all-action style of play should suit the Hyundai A-League and will quickly make him a fans’ favorite.”
The release goes on to describe Šernas as a very direct attacker. After arriving in Perth he has already passed a medical and will be available for the Glory as early as their January 31 game against Melbourne Victory at the nib Stadium.
