Fantasy football advice, Week 7: Who to start/sit for Seahawks vs. Rams

Who’d have guessed the Seahawks would be in third place this far into the season?

Otto Greule Jr

That the St. Louis Rams are in last place in the NFC West isn't a huge surprise. That their Week 7 opponent, the Seattle Seahawks, are in third, however, certainly is. The Seahawks still have a winning record at 3-2, but the success of the division's other two teams has put the defending Super Bowl champions off pace.

The teams are largely healthy, from a fantasy perspective. The Seahawks will be without tight end Zach Miller, though he hasn't been terribly fantasy-relevant even when healthy. For the Rams, running back Zac Stacy missed one practice this week, but it looks like general maintenance on his ankle.

The game will be played in St. Louis at 1 p.m. ET Sunday. The list of fantasy names to watch isn’t super long, but there are some:

SEAHAWKS

Start 'em: The way Seattle used Marshawn Lynch last week was baffling, but it's hard to imagine that repeating. He'll be fine. ... Steven Hauschka is on the road, but still in a dome, and he puts up all sorts of kicking points. ... This is the first not-awesome offense the Seahawks' defense gets to face, and that could lead to a big game (at last).

Start 'em?: A Week after a dominant game against Washington, Russell Wilson came back to earth in a big way against Dallas with a 10-point fantasy day. He's still a fine starter for most owners in most leagues, but this week he's sitting just outside the top 10 at the position.

Sit 'em: The Percy Harvin trade opens up some opportunities for Doug Baldwin and Jermaine Kearse, but it's not like either was super-productive while Harvin was injury last year. I'm staying away. ... Luke Willson will fill in for Miller at tight end, but that's a big no for fantasy.

RAMS

Start 'em?: Few stocks have fallen as quickly as Zac Stacy's. I think part of the problem with his usage last week was due to his lingering ankle injury, so I think he's still a low-end flex play this week. ... I knew Brian Quick wasn't as good as he showed the first four weeks, but his one-pointer in Week 6 was still a surprise. The reality lies somewhere in between. ... Jared Cook doesn't come with a lot of upside, but he gets enough targets to offer a safe handful of points every week. ... Greg Zuerlein only has one double-digit fantasy day, but in a home game, he should be at least a reasonable option.

Sit 'em: The bloom came off the rose a bit for Austin Davis last week, and against a strong defense, he's a definite stay-away. ... Benny Cunningham and Tre Mason are suddenly fantasy-relevant as stashes, but they aren't worth using yet. ... The Rams' defense has been more bad than good so far.
