Fantasy football advice, Week 7: Who to start/sit for Bengals vs. Colts

It’s first place against first place in the Ohio-Indiana battle.

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

The only matchup between first-place teams in Week 7 lies in the Cincinnati Bengals-Indianapolis Colts game. The Colts, since starting 0-2, have run off four straight wins to move to first in the AFC South, while the Bengals have lost a game and tied one since starting 3-0, but still lead the way in the AFC North.

The Bengals come into Sunday's game dealing with plenty of fantasy-relevant injuries. The team will be without wide receiver A.J. Green for the second straight game, as he's dealing with a toe injury. His position partner, Marvin Jones, was placed on Injured Reserve earlier this week because of a foot injury and tight end Tyler Eifert is still out with a dislocated elbow. The Colts are much healthier, with no significant injuries from a fantasy perspective.

The game is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET Sunday in Indianapolis. The two teams do have a horde of fantasy-relevant players to monitor:

BENGALS

Start 'em: Man, it's been nice owning Giovani Bernard, huh? Good times. ... Mohamed Sanu's lifespan as a fantasy starter has a "when Green is back" expiration date, but that hasn't happened yet.

Start 'em?: He produced better than expected last week with Green and the others out, but Andy Dalton can't keep up his production without a full complement of weapons. ... Jeremy Hill's workload should stay reasonably high with the others out, and he's a reasonable low-end flex play. ... Mike Nugent has occasional good games; if you believe the offense can continue, he can keep kicking. ... After a great three weeks to start the season, the Bengals' defense has really fallen off the last two weeks, and now faces a good Indianapolis offense. It's a dicey play.

Sit 'em: Sunday was Jermaine Gresham's first game this season with more than two fantasy points. He's not helpful.

COLTS

Start 'em: It's tough to envision any scenario in which you aren't starting Andrew Luck. ... We've seen the best of Ahmad Bradshaw this season already, but he's still productive enough to be a strong RB2. ... We won't see him repeat his monster Week 6 performance, but T.Y. Hilton has put up at least eight fantasy points in four straight. He needs to be in lineups. ... He doesn't have the tight-end role all to himself in Indianapolis, but Dwayne Allen still slots in as a low-end starter. ... That's six straight games (out of six) this season with at least six fantasy points for Adam Vinatieri, and five straight with eight-plus. ... I don't know where this version of the Colts' defense came from, after back-to-back negative games to start the season, but it's suddenly a low-end starting unit.

Start 'em?: The last couple weeks have been kind to Trent Richardson, who is suddenly back to being a low-end flex play. ... Reggie Wayne is a step behind Hilton, but he's still a decent flex play.

Sit 'em: If Allen were to get hurt, like last year, Coby Fleener might be a starting tight end, but failing that he just doesn't get enough looks.

SUMMARY

Start in every league: Giovani Bernard, Mohamed Sanu, Andrew Luck, Ahmad Bradshaw, T.Y. Hilton, Dwayne Allen, Adam Vinatieri, Indianapolis defense
Start if you’re desperate: Andy Dalton, Jeremy Hill, Mike Nugent, Cincinnati defense, Trent Richardson, Reggie Wayne
Bench: Jermaine Gresham, Coby Fleener
