Fantasy football start/sit advice, Week 5: Browns vs. Titans

Each team has one win so far, but only one of the two has really stayed competitive throughout.

Ken Blaze-USA TODAY Sports

The Cleveland Browns are 1-2 with a negative-3 point differential. Every game has come down to the wire. The Tennessee Titans, meanwhile, are 1-3, and haven't played a close game yet -- they won by 16 in Week 1, then lost by 16, 26 and 24 the next three weeks.

Both of these teams are getting healthy. After missing basically all the season thus far, Browns running back Ben Tate has still been limited in practice, but all indications have him back on the field Sunday. Tight end Jordan Cameron seems to be in even better shape, as he's been a full participant all week. On the Tennessee side, after missing Week 4 game with a wrist injury, quarterback Jake Locker appears slated to get back on the field.

After a bye last week, the Browns are traveling to Tennessee for a 1 p.m. ET game Sunday. These are the fantasy names to consider:

BROWNS

Start 'em: There aren't a lot of great plays with the Cleveland offense (are there ever?), but Ben Tate being back on the field seems nice. He's a low-end RB2 or high-end flex, but he should be out there. ... We haven't seen it yet this year because of his injury, but Jordan Cameron is still the same guy who rolled through the league last year.

Start 'em?: No, the team doesn't have many sure things, but there are some interesting pieces. Isaiah Crowell appears to have fully taken the team's top handcuff running back role, and if Tate is limited he could do something, though if Tate is fully healthy, Crowell will struggle for touches. ... Andrew Hawkins is a very nice PPR play who has put up at least seven fantasy points in standard scoring in every game as well.

Sit 'em: He hasn't scored fewer than 12 points or more than 15 points in a game yet this year; Brian Hoyer probably won't go out there and ruin your week, but he's not going to do any winning for you either. ... Terrance West has fallen to third on the depth chart. ... Miles Austin's value appears to be seriously touchdown-dependent, and that's always a dicey proposition. ... Billy Cundiff's good weeks don't even get him to double-digit fantasy points; find a better kicker. ... The Browns' defense seems like it should be better than it has been, but the numbers have just never been there.

Start in every league: Ben Tate, Jordan Cameron
Start if you’re desperate: Isaiah Crowell, Andrew Hawkins
Bench: Brian Hoyer, Terrance West, Miles Austin, Billy Cundiff, Defense/special teams

TITANS

Start 'em: It's been a great start of the season for Delanie Walker, who is averaging 12 fantasy points a game.

Start 'em?: All the reports indicate Bishop Sankey will become a much bigger part of the Titans' offense, but I really expect it to be more gradual than immediate. I don't want to run him out there quite yet.

Sit 'em: Even if he were healthy, I couldn't advocate running Jake Locker out there in fantasy; with him injured, it's an even worse idea. ... With Sankey's progression, Shonn Greene and Dexter McCluster become largely irrelevant. .... Not many duos have been more disappointing than Kendall Wright and Justin Hunter, who have 16 combined fantasy points in the last three weeks; they and Nate Washington are falling out of consideration quickly. ... The Tennessee offense appears to be scuffling too much to give Ryan Succop a lot of kicking opportunities. ... Even against what hasn't been a great Cleveland offense, the Titans' defense is basically a stay-away; they have net zero points since Week 1.

Start in every league: Delanie Walker
Start if you're desperate:
Bishop Sankey
Bench:
Jake Locker, Shonn Greene, Dexter McCluster, Kendall Wright, Justin Hunter, Nate Washington, Ryan Succop, Defense/special teams
