Ryan McDonagh injury: Evander Kane hit sends Rangers captain to the locker room
McDonagh injured the same shoulder last season.

USA TODAY Sports
With Kevin Klein in the dressing room after blocking a shot in the first period, the New York Rangers were already down a defenseman when their captain suffered an even more serious injury.
Ryan McDonagh was forced to leave the game midway through the first period when Winnipeg Jets forward Evander Kane crunched him along the boards. It appeared that McDonagh tried to reposition himself to avoid a big hit, but Kane still managed to catch him in a compromising position when contact was made.
McDonagh struggled to get to his feet after the play and had to be helped off the ice, clutching his shoulder. The Rangers’ captain injured that same shoulder last season in Vancouver in a similar situation.
