A pair of last-place teams face off Sunday, as the 1-8 Tampa Bay Buccaneers travel to the nation's capital to take on 3-6 Washington. While the Buccaneers have lost five straight since their lone win, Washington has won two of its last three, improving on a woeful start to the season.
Fantasy football advice, Week 11: Who to start/sit for Buccaneers vs. Washington
Last place vs. last place! It’s the “We’re only watching it for fantasy” bowl!
The Buccaneers will be without running back Doug Martin for the third straight week as he deals with an ankle injury. Quarterback Josh McCown has been suffering through a back injury, but should be fine for Sunday. On the Washington side, quarterback Robert Griffin III is still dealing with a bum ankle, but he'll play this week.
Washington will host Sunday’s game at 1 p.m. ET. Two subpar teams don’t necessarily offer a lot of fantasy value, but let’s look at what there is:
BUCCANEERS
Start 'em: As hot as he's been of late, Mike Evans looks like a perfectly fine WR2. He's averaging 14.4 fantasy points a game since Week 3.
Start 'em?: It was a decent game in his return to the starting role for Josh McCown last week, and Washington does struggle on defense, but man, how can you trust Josh freaking McCown as your fantasy quarterback? ... Bobby Rainey looked pretty bad in Week 11, and Charles Sims is on the rise. Ultimately, you probably don't want to rely on either, but if you have to lean on one, it's still probably Rainey for at least one more week. ... We haven't heard the last of Vincent Jackson, who will have some big games before all is said and done, but he's no longer the team's No. 1 receiver. ... Patrick Murray has occasionally had decent kicking games. Ultimately, you don't want to use him, but if you're stuck, you could do worse.
Sit 'em: Even off of his best career game, there were some worries about Austin Seferian-Jenkins in Week 11, making bad decisions. He's not startable right now. ... The Buccaneers' defense is bad.
WASHINGTON
Start 'em: After a rough stretch of performances, Alfred Morris has put up two very good games in a row. He's back in low-end RB1 territory. ... DeSean Jackson has been very strong this year. He will occasionally have miserable games, but overall, he's a must-start where you just accept the rough games.
Start 'em?: In an ideal world, you want to wait another week before running Robert Griffin III back out there in your fantasy lineups, but he does still have RG3 upside, so you could make an argument for it. ... Pierre Garcon has been left behind in the Washington offense, but he pops every now and then. ... You're probably starting Jordan Reed if you have him, but we are still waiting for his first big 2014 game, so he's far from a safe bet. ... Kai Forbath has averaged 10 points a game in his last four and almost nine a game since his Week 1 goose-egg. He's a reasonable play.
Sit ‘em: The Washington defense has put up zero or worse fantasy points in a game five different times this season. Stay away.
