Pacquiao vs Algieri results: Vasyl Lomachenko dominates Chonlatarn Piriyapinyo for decision win

Vasyl Lomachenko came into his bout with Chonlatarn Piriyapinyo on the undercard of Manny Pacquiao vs. Chris Algieri as a -10000 favorite at some sportsbooks. To put that in perspective, that means that if you wanted to win $100, you would have to risk $10,000. Obviously, a part of that gambling line was simply books not wanting any money to come in on Lomachenko, who was a solid lock to win the fight. But, it speaks to his rare talent.

Lomachenko came into the bout as a 2-1 fighter, coming up just short in his bid for a world title in his second pro fight before winning the title against Gary Russell Jr. in June. That speaks to how talented Lomachenko is and how much he learned as one of the most highly credentialed amateur boxers ever.

In Piriyapinyo, Lomachenko was facing a man who was going to be a tough, straight-ahead fighter, but not one with the skills that would lead to the ability to compete.

That’s exactly how the fight played out, with Lomachenko doing ridiculous things, like using his non-dominant hand to land four consecutive punches in about one second while circling his body in the opposite direction. In fact, he was so successful in doing whatever he wanted that Piriyapinyo’s biggest moment came when Lomachenko appeared to break his hand on the top of his head while throwing a punch.

Lomachenko didn’t lose any rounds despite fighting mostly one-handed, and he used his non-power hand to land at will.
