The Tennessee Titans are playing out their season just hoping to stay out of last place. The Philadelphia Eagles, meanwhile, have much loftier goals. They are tied for first place in the NFC East and looking to lock down a playoff spot heading into the season's final few weeks. Hosting the Titans Sunday, the Eagles look in good shape to improve their standing.
Fantasy football start/sit advice, Week 12: Titans vs. Eagles
The Eagles are playing for the playoffs. The Titans are playing for next year.
The Titans are largely healthy from a fantasy perspective coming into Sunday. They will even likely get tight end Delanie Walker back after he missed Week 11 with a concussion. The Eagles are similarly healthy; wide receiver Jordan Matthews appeared on the week's injury report with a knee injury, but he's not at risk to miss the game.
The Eagles play host to the Titans Sunday at 1 p.m. ET. Here’s a look at the fantasy names to consider:
TITANS
Start 'em?: It's been true all season, and it still is -- Bishop Sankey is a starting running back, so if it's truly desperate, sure, give him a shot, but don't expect much of anything out of him. ... Assuming Delanie Walker plays -- and he should -- he's right in the TE1 mix, probably in the 8-12 range at the position. A worthwhile start, but not a guaranteed one.
Sit 'em: Since taking over as the starting quarterback, Zach Mettenberger has been competent -- 13.3 fantasy points per game -- but he's not nearly trustworthy enough to crack a lineup. ... In 20 combined games played this season, Kendall Wright and Justin Hunter have cracked double figures in fantasy scoring four times total. They just aren't producing. ... Ryan Succop hasn't had much of a season -- even less of one if you take out his strong Week 1. ... The Titans' defense put up 12 fantasy points in Week 6; the same unit has 14 total points since.
EAGLES
Start 'em: It was a bad Week 11 for Mark Sanchez, but every quarterback in the league would have struggled, considering how good the Green Bay Packers have been. He's still a low-end starting quarterback. ... LeSean McCoy hasn't come close to recouping draft-day value, but he's been just productive enough to be a high-end RB2, and still in all lineups. ... Jeremy Maclin has had a couple dud games in his last five, but for the most part he's been super-elite all season, and needs to be started everywhere. ... Cody Parkey has only had fewer than eight fantasy points in a game once all season. He's as strong a kicking option as there is in the game. ... The Eagles' defense collapsed last week, but it's still one of the league's elite units.
Start ‘em?: Since Sanchez has taken over, Jordan Matthews has looked fantastic. He’s definitely in strong flex territory now.
Sit 'em: You need fluky plays for Darren Sproles to have real fantasy value, and fluky plays aren't plays you can count on. ... There's just no way to run Zach Ertz or Brent Celek out there in fantasy with any confidence at all.
