After historic snowfall in Buffalo, the Sunday game between the Buffalo Bills and the New York Jets was moved to Monday night in Detroit, meaning the two teams will play a neutral-site game. The Bills missed some days of practice because of the snowstorm as well.
Fantasy football advice, Week 12: Who to start/sit for Jets vs. Bills on Monday night
After that crazy snowstorm, these two teams are playing Monday in Detroit.
The Jets have both of their primary running backs on the team injury report, as Chris Ivory is dealing with a shoulder injury and Chris Johnson with an ankle, but neither is at any risk of missing Monday's game. The Bills, meanwhile, have several players on the week's injury report, but the only real concern is running back Fred Jackson, who should play Monday, but will likely be below full strength.
The Bills are the nominal hosts of Monday’s game, though it will be played in Detroit at 7 p.m. ET Monday. Let’s look at the fantasy names to consider:
JETS
Start 'em?: If you're stuck using Michael Vick, it's rough, but he's shown enough that such a situation wouldn't be an abject disaster. ... Between his moderate injury concerns and the stout Buffalo defense, Chris Ivory is a pretty dicey fantasy play this week. ... Eric Decker and Percy Harvin are both inconsistent fantasy performers. Both make decent flex plays, but have significant downside. ... Nick Folk is a fine kicker, so long as the team puts him in situation, but that's never a guarantee.
Sit 'em: You can't use Chris Johnson in fantasy; his bad games have well outweighed the good this season. ... The Jets' defense had a good game against Pittsburgh last time out, but that's really the only bright spot on the season. Stay away.
BILLS
Start 'em: Against that New York defense, and healthy now, Sammy Watkins looks like a good fantasy play. ... Start the Bills' defense and enjoy that.
Start 'em: The Bills probably would have benched Kyle Orton if they had any kind of option behind him, considering his recent struggles. But they didn't, and against a woeful Jets' pass defense, Orton is actually a reasonable QB2 this week. ... Fred Jackson's injury makes him a scary fantasy play, and a high-end flex at best. ... The Buffalo offense is good at getting close to the end zone, but not in it, making a lot of kicking opportunities for Dan Carpenter.
Sit 'em: The return of Jackson to activity takes Bryce Brown and Anthony Dixon down to low-end flex plays at best, and they might not even be that. ... Scott Chandler has had seven games of three or fewer fantasy points this season.
SUMMARY
Start in every league: Sammy Watkins, Buffalo defense
Start if you’re desperate: Michael Vick, Eric Decker, Percy Harvin, Nick Folk, Kyle Orton, Fred Jackson, Dan Carpenter
