Fantasy football advice, Week 15: Who to start/sit for Saints vs. Bears on ‘Monday Night Football’

These are two bad teams, but one of them could still do some stuff this season.

Matt Marton-USA TODAY Sports

By all rights, Monday night's game between the 5-8 Chicago Bears and the 5-8 New Orleans Saints should just be there to run the schedule out. Instead, because the NFC South is so terrible, the Saints need to win to stay in the playoff race, giving this game some undeserved tension.

The two teams have a largely clear injury report for the game, with only nine total players listed for the two teams, and even fewer names with any fantasy relevance. The Saints are clean, while the Bears have only kicker Robbie Gould listed. Gould, who missed Week 14, is a question mark for Monday; Jay Feely would continue to cover the team's kicking duties if Gould is out. The Bears have placed wide receiver Brandon Marshall on injured reserve after he was injured in Week 14.

The Bears will host the Saints Monday, with the game scheduled for 8:30 p.m. ET. Let’s look at the fantasy considerations:

SAINTS

Start 'em: Week 14 was a big disappointment from Drew Brees, who had looked like he was turning things around. He's still a must-start, but no longer nearly as exciting. ... Even off two bad games in a row, and three bad games in his last four, Jimmy Graham is a must-start at tight end; you have to assume he'll improve.

Start 'em?: The stock for Mark Ingram has really fallen lately; he's just a flex play now, with only 6.8 fantasy points per game in his last four. ... Kenny Stills and Marques Colston have been taking turns as the team's top receiving option. Stills looks like the higher-ceiling option, though things could go either way.

Sit 'em: The returns of Pierre Thomas and Khiry Robinson hurt Ingram's value, but they don't have a lot of value themselves. ... The Saints have soured on Shayne Graham, to the point where they brought in Garrett Hartley for a workout this week. Graham's off the table. ... This game features two good offenses against defenses that won't do much to stop them; stay away from the Saints' defense.

BEARS

Start 'em: Against the Saints' defense, you certainly have to like Jay Cutler's stock this week. ... Matt Forte, Alshon Jeffery and Martellus Bennett should all see increased usage with Brandon Marshall out for the year, and they were all must-starts already.

Sit 'em: Marshall's absence certainly makes Marquess Wilson interesting, but let's give him a week to perform before we buy in. ... If Robbie Gould can go, he's not a fantasy option. If Gould sits, Jay Feely is not a fantasy option. But thanks for reading. ... The Bears' defense has two straight negative fantasy games and four in its last six.

SUMMARY

Start in every league: Drew Brees, Jimmy Graham, Jay Cutler, Matt Forte, Alshon Jeffery, Martellus Bennett

Start if you’re desperate: Mark Ingram, Kenny Stills, Marques Colston

Bench: Pierre Thomas, Khiry Robinson, Shayne Graham, New Orleans defense, Marquess Wilson, Robbie Gould, Jay Feely, Chicago defense
