Vikings vs. Dolphins start/sit advice: Teddy Bridgewater, Mike Wallace, Kyle Rudolph

Both of these teams could finish .500, which would mean a lot more to one than the other.

Brace Hemmelgarn-USA TODAY Sports

In a season where they have started three different quarterbacks, lost two different starting running backs, had their tight end out for a huge chunk of the season and had an everybody's-darling wide receiver fall flat, the Minnesota Vikings have still managed to reach a 6-8 record, with a shot at finishing the season with a .500 record. The Miami Dolphins already sit at .500, but having been 7-5 a couple weeks ago with a good playoff shot, they have to be disappointed. Sunday, the two teams play each other, in a game with minimal playoff relevance.

Three of the Vikings' most prominent fantasy weapons are on the week's injury report. Running back Matt Asiata and wide receiver Greg Jennings are expected to play Sunday, though they won't be 100 percent. Tight end Kyle Rudolph is more of a question mark -- a variety of maladies could keep him from playing. On the Miami side, tight end Charles Clay is the only fantasy name on the injury report, and he's expected to be 100 percent.

The Dolphins will host Sunday’s game, scheduled for 1 p.m. ET. Let’s look at the fantasy names to consider:

VIKINGS

Start 'em?: The numbers have improved lately for Teddy Bridgewater. He's still not someone you want to start, but he's in the QB2 conversation if things are dodgy. ... The Vikings' defense has had some productive stretches, but is only a No. 2 defense at best.

Sit 'em: Every once in a while, Matt Asiata finds the end zone and that makes his fantasy day worth it, but there is absolutely no week-to-week consistency. ... Charles Johnson has emerged as the most trustworthy fantasy option among the Minnesota receivers, though Greg Jennings and Jarius Wright have been close. Hard to imagine putting faith in any of the three, though. ... If Kyle Rudolph can go, he'll be limited. And if he can't, Chase Ford isn't a fantasy option. ... Blair Walsh hasn't reached double-digit fantasy points in any of his last seven games, and had a negative total a week ago.

DOLPHINS

Start 'em: The Dolphins are full of players who are unlikely to put up a huge day, but also aren't likely to fall completely flat. That stretches all the way to kicker Caleb Sturgis.

Start 'em?: Every time we put faith in Ryan Tannehill, he disappoints. He's averaged 12 fantasy points a game in his last three. He's a perfectly fine QB2, but he's a long way from QB1 status. ... If you have Lamar Miller, there's a decent chance you're using him, but his ceiling is so low that you should feel encouraged to scour for better options. ... Mike Wallace had a big Week 15, but had struggled a lot the four games prior. He's a flex option. ... Jarvis Landry has had at least five fantasy points in seven straight games, but has only had more than 10 once in that time. He's a high-floor, low-ceiling, low-end flex. ... Charles Clay seems to be pretty safe for four or five fantasy points, though not much more.

Sit ‘em: After a good first half, the Dolphins’ defense has completely fallen apart lately.

SUMMARY

Start in every league: Caleb Sturgis
Start if you're desperate: Teddy Bridgewater, Minnesota defense, Ryan Tannehill, Lamar Miller, Mike Wallace, Jarvis Landry, Charles Clay
Bench: Matt Asiata, Charles Johnson, Greg Jennings, Jarius Wright, Kyle Rudolph, Chase Ford, Blair Walsh, Miami defense
